11 Reasons You Aren’t Reaching Your Goals
Back in high school, I took a P.E. class that gave me extra credit to go to the gym every week. One morning after waiting in a long line to check in, I commented to the woman at the front desk how busy it was.
“Well, January is always our busiest time of the year,” she told me. I asked her why. I mean, swimsuit season was still months away, right? “It’s because everyone just made their new year’s resolutions. By mid-February, most will have given up and we should be back to our normal gym traffic.”
I laughed at the time, but it’s a sad and painful truth. Goals and resolutions are just so hard to keep!
Maybe you start off on the right foot, you’re dedicated and filled with motivation, but soon enough you’re back to square one and left paying for a gym membership that you never use.
So what’s the deal? Why is it so hard to reach your goals? What’s the secret to success? While I’m not the perfect example of a successful goal-keeper, I have learned a thing or two about the WRONG way to set goals. And maybe you’ve found yourself making these mistakes from time to time as well.
Why You’re Not Reaching Your Goals
1. You didn’t write it down.
So you want to get into an exercise routine, save up for a trip, or start going to bed early. You’ve made up your mind, and you’re determined to accomplish it. The problem is that it never left your mind.
